Lake George, N.Y.
After the tourists are gone. At sunrise with a warming filter added in Photoshop.
Three photos of the monuments built for three great men.
Washington, Lincoln, Martin Luther King.
This was my first time in Washington. It will not be my last if I can help it.
I have heard all the horror stories of ‘Oh, D.C. ….yeah done that, lots of walking and no place to park….it’s OK if you like that history stuff I guess.”
Anybody that visits this city and does not take time to admire and reflect has lost an opportunity.
I will leave you with three photos and at the risk of becoming another photo or travel blog (nothing wrong with that by the way) and alienating my 5 or 6 dedicated readers, I will just admit to a brief vacation that we all need from time to time. Plus—-I really, really, really like taking photos.
On Top
Top of the food chain
Top of the heap
I was a big deal
I roared – I ate you up
Now- I am an exhibit
A quiet dry relic
Time goes fast
Grab you some before it’s gone
On vacation in the nation’s capital this week and took a ton of pictures (wish I took more). This one fits the photo challenge of “on top”. For someone like me that loves history, words and great images- D.C. is like crack cocaine flowing directly to my cerebral cortex. And coincidentally there are tons of great places to buy the aforementioned drug, if you choose, in the District of Columbia.
I was in awe at every turn- even in the biggest house of bones ever assembled known as the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History.
I still have a blog about Rock n’Roll relics- here is Marc Bolan and the boys, Tyrannosaurus Rex with a classic. T-Rex may have started glam rock but this does not sound too dry and historical yet.
Enjoy and cheers from the cave!

Took a break from blogging to build a little snowman (oh yeah, we got snow!)…..it turned into a big fat cat- and this noir filter on the iPad made me think I was listening to Opeth! This is the winter of our discontent.
I don’t know how it happens; but everyone has the power to soar.
Even those who feel totally alone while battling serious difficulties.
I really believe that.
This picture says that to me. It is fine if it doesn’t say anything to you-it really is.
This is from my Nikon 5100 and the only thing I did was just a tad bit of unsharp mask in Photoshop to bump up the details…and…O.K.. maybe just a sliver of contrast. Photoshop can be a delicate tool instead of a big mallet as I am just starting to figure out.
So long Pete,
You loved everyone-A true man of the people-you lived long enough that we kind of forgot about you-that is our fault.
I never was a fan of your music but I am a big fan of a life filled with conviction.
And you lived on my river.
In fact, you really loved the Hudson River and fought to get it clean.
We have lost a consistent voice for freedom and the river has lost a friend.
The world is not better without you.
Thank you
